Being polite in Colombia

In Colombia to be polite means to respect other people. It is the main point in being polite. For Colombian people what other person thinks is very important, and they might think different, but they will always respect you.However, being polite also involve other things like how you behave yourself.

Colombia has a free society; however it is expected from people to be considerate in some places such a churchs and hospitals. Also give the first place a woman, it is very polite, things like give them a chair when ther is no chairs left,or open the door are things that are very polite. It is the same too for old people, you will be expect to be very respectful to them and also helpful with them.

I always felt like Colombians were extremely polite. I saw it most with the sense of community present with everyone. I always said that whenever a Colombian got some food or something else, they would offer to everyone else before eating. That demonstrated consideration for others, which I considered to be extremely polite.
